RISK ANALYSIS

Raising-Hands.jpg

We work with School Administrators, Planners, Architects, Engineers and other building science professionals to identify and quantify the security risks which a school may be exposed. Our main objective of the risk assessment process is to find the most effective mitigation measures to achieve a desired level of protection. We then define and elevate threats, consequences and vulnerabilities for the purpose of integrating the security risks into an effective design strategy. Risk reduction takes place by evaluating then implementing protective measures, and preparing your school's Safety Emergency/Response Plans.

PARATUS SECURITY GROUP recently conducted a Risk Analysis at Jackson Walnut Park Schools, Newton, MA.

At PARATUS SECURITY GROUP, our FEMA-certified Master Exercise Practitioners will custom-design exercises to meet your specific needs.   These range from Discussion-Based all the way up to full scale exercises.

At PARATUS SECURITY, we regularly utilize six types of exercises which are either discussion-based or operations-based.

Discussions-based Exercises familiarize participants with current plans, policies, agreements and procedures, or may be used to develop new plans, policies, agreements, and procedures. Discussion-based Exercises include the following:

  • *Seminar: A seminar is an informal discussion, designed to orient participants to new or updated plans, policies, or procedures.
*(PARATUS SECURITY Instructors are highly experienced in real-world events and have recently presented at the New England Association of Schools and Colleges 2018 Annual Meeting).

  • Workshop:  A workshop resembles a seminar, but is employed to build specific products, such as a draft plan or policy (e.g., a Training and Exercise Plan Workshop is used to develop a Multi-year Training and Exercise Plan).

  • *Tabletop Exercise (TTX): A tabletop exercise involves key personnel discussing simulated scenarios in an informal setting. TTXs can be used to assess plans, policies, and procedures. (* Table Top Exercises are a cost-effective way to gather input from participants and later incorporate this into your Emergency Response Plans. Our staff of expert facilitators perform many of these types of exercises).

Operations-based Exercises validate plans, policies, agreements and procedures, clarify roles and responsibilities, and identify resource gaps in an operational environment. Operations-based exercises include the following:

  • Drill: A drill is a coordinated, supervised activity usually employed to test a single, specific operation or function within a single entity (e.g., a fire drill).

  • *Functional Exercise (FE): A functional exercise examines and/or validates specific functionalities and assesses the coordination between administrators, teachers and responders. *(PARATUS SECURITY GROUP conducts numerous Active Threat Functional Exercises. Feedback from these exercises has been extremely positive.)

  • Full-Scale Exercises (FSE): A full-scale exercise is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional, multi-discipline exercise involving functional and “boots on the ground” response. (PARATUS SECURITY GROUP will work with local law enforcement and responders as well as all involved parties to create a Design Team, then host the Concept and Objectives Meeting, Initial-Middle-Final Planning Conferences, Master Scenario Event List and provide seasoned Evaluators and Controllers to ensure a safe and secure exercise.)
